Digital Hub Events programme

The Digital Hub events programme offers a wide range of interactive events, talks, workshops and performances led by Jesus College researchers and collaborators, that aim to demystify the digital age, enable students to learn new digital skills and shine a light on how advances in digital technologies are transforming our understanding of the past, enabling us to question the present, and define the future.

The programme is led by Dr Janina Schupp, SOUTHWORKS Digital Hub Fellow, and a small team of College staff and students.

Learning and research in the digital age

The original vision of the Digital Hub as a pioneering centre for multidisciplinary research, learning, and public engagement in the digital age, was that of Professor Sir Nigel Shadbolt FRS FREng FBCS, Principal of Jesus College and Professorial Research Fellow in Computer Science at Oxford.

Under Sir Nigel's guidance, the Digital Hub acts as a fulcrum for innovation, collaboration and education at Oxford; bringing together the brightest minds and the curious to discover, explore, use and benefit from the latest advances in digital technologies.

The Digital Hub forms part of the Cheng Yu Tung Building, which was designed by MICA Architects, and opened in 2022. The founding of the building was made possible in large part thanks to a transformative donation by Hong Kong entrepreneur and philanthropist, Dr Henry Cheng Kar Shun, through his London-based property company Knight Dragon. The development is named in honour of Dr Cheng’s father, Dr Cheng Yu Tung. The Digital Hub is named after Dr Henry Cheng Kar Shun himself.
