On Isla Tibaguin, the climate crisis shows up in small but disruptive ways nearly every day; water rising higher than chairs and tabletops, and feet that are never fully dry. Nearly daily flooding reshapes routines, health, and dignity, and dictates how people can move, work, and live.

The Philippines is ranked as one of the top countries most vulnerable to the effects of climate change, yet it contributes less than 0.25% to greenhouse gas emissions - the leading cause of global warming. Coastal communities are on the frontlines of a climate crisis they did little to cause.

“Living in Water” is a new immersive virtual reality project created by Ana P. Santos (Atlantic Fellow for Health Equity in Southeast Asia), brought to life with support from the Atlantic Institute’s XR Lab, and in collaboration with the CMB Foundation. Combining 360 film and animation, the experience places you inside a reality where climate change unfolds in slow motion.

Each session lasts 45 minutes, and there are three sessions available:

14.00-14.45

14.45-15.30

15.30-16.15

Please select the time you'd like to attend at the point of booking on Eventbrite.

This event is a collaboration between the XR Lab, Atlantic Institute and the Cheng Kar Shun Digital Hub programme.
