Oxbridge Esports Varsity to play out in Digital Hub
The Cheng Kar Shun Digital Hub at Jesus College is to host two days of competitive gaming next week as it welcomes the Oxbridge Esports Varsity 2026.
Oxbridge Esports Varsity (OEV) is the biggest gaming event in the Oxbridge Esports calendar, and organised by the Oxford University Gaming & Esports Society (OUGES) and Cambridge University Digital Gaming Society (CUDGS). Now in its 13th year, the competition sees teams of students, including many from Jesus, compete in a series of gaming battles over two days. The gaming takes place in the AFK Esports Suite at the College, and will be livestreamed directly into the Digital Hub.
The AFK Esports Suite is Oxford University’s first dedicated esports facility, and opened in Jesus College’s Third Quad in 2023. The space is supported by OUGES’s commercial partner AFK Group. It enables around 150 gamers from across the University to train for, and participate in, competitive esports leagues with peers at other academic institutions. In addition, the space also provides high-end computer facilities for Jesus College students to use, and offers opportunities to participate in skills workshops on topics such as coding, CGI design and artificial intelligence technologies.
The OEV takes place on Tuesday 17th March and Wednesday 18th March 2026, and is open to all students, and the general public. Tickets are free. It will also be livestreamed via the OxbridgeEsports Twitch channel: https://twitch.tv/OxbridgeEsports
