Michaelmas Term 2026 Programme Launch

Published

We're delighted to announce the launch of the Michaelmas term  2026 Digital Hub Events Programme. This term's events explore topics as broad as space research, clean air, microscopy and digital inequality. The programme, now in its fifth year, also brings back the Emerging Digital Methodologies Conference, one of the most popular Hub events of 2025.

The season kicks off on Tuesday 3 November with The Price of Progress: Power and Inequality in the Digital Age (5.30-8PM), a deep-dive into the geopolitics of digital and technological innovation. Are new technologies helping to close global and regional inequalities, or reinforcing divisions between the Global North and Global South? Who actually benefits from the digital revolution, and who pays the price? On Thursday 5 November, the Principal explores how we might navigate global challenges through the lenses of diplomacy, education and technology. Global Perspectives in the Digital Age: Lindsay Skoll CMG in Conversation (6-8PM) offers the opportunity for guests to discuss with Lindsay how we connect in the wider world during an era of rapid change and global instability.

Parents of budding scientists aged 12+ might be interested to bring them along to The Art of Microscopy on Thursday 12 November (4-6PM). Oxford researchers will be revealing the secret universe of life at the microscopic scale, from intricate biological structures to unexpected patterns and forms. The event includes talks, an exhibition of microscopy images, and refreshments.

The returning Emerging Digital Methodologies Conference on Wednesday 18 November (9.30AM-7.30PM) brings together graduates and early-career researchers in the humanities and related disciplines to rethink established fields, explore new applications for conventional digital methods, and look at how digital methodologies are being translated in the cross-disciplinary space. Tickets to the event cost £38 each, and include lunch, tea breaks and a wine reception.

Dr Rosamund Adoo-Kissi-Debrah CBE, clean air campaigner and founder of the Ella Roberta Foundation, and Professor Chris Griffiths, a Jesus Fellow and expert on air pollution and health, join forces on Wednesday 25 November (5.30-7.30PM) to discuss how public policy, data analysis, research, and innovation could create equitable cities where everyone breathes clean air. Cleaner Air, Healthier Cities: From Pollution to Solutions also features a fireside chat between Rosamund, Chris and the Principal, a Q&A with the speakers, and drinks reception.

To round off the term, New Frontiers: The Science and Technology of Space Exploration on Wednesday 2 December (4-6PM) brings together students, researchers, and experts from across disciplines for a series of lightning talks that highlight some of the technologies and ideas shaping our understanding of other planets, and the future of space exploration. With space artefacts, 3D models and a VR experience included, New Frontiers is also suitable for ages 12+ with an interest in space.
